What is LinguaPalooza?

LinguaPalooza is an experiential language learning contest created by researchers at the Center for Language Studies. Participants receive prizes for completing week-long projects in which they use their target language in the real world. Participants learn and practice self-study skills as they are guided through preparatory exercises so that they can confidently complete the real-world language tasks.

What kind of prizes can I win?

Participants win one prize for each week-long project that they complete, and the more weeks they complete, the better the prizes. Last Winter semester, LinguaPalooza participants won 2 stickers in Week 1, a Jamba Juice gift certificate in Week 2, a water bottle in Week 3, and a t-shirt in Week 4.

The participant who best exemplifies growth and dedication to lifelong language learning in their weekly reflections will receive the grand cash prize of $500! In order to be eligible to receive the grand prize, participants must complete all four project weeks including a written or video reflection.
